Relax and unwind during an eleven-day Yoga and meditation retreat at the beach with Yoga Tangalle in Sri Lanka. Prioritize your mental and physical well-being with daily Yoga and meditation classes, surrounded by coconut trees, the sound of the waves, and playing monkeys and birds.

Introduction for itinerary

The Mental Fitness Program provides a foundation to create a state of embodied harmony, by aligning the physical, mental, and emotional dimensions of the human experience.

During this retreat, you will learn how to apply meditation and Yoga as a tool to develop self awareness, focus,  mental stillness and inner peace. The goal of meditation is to control the mind and to put an end to its many fluctuations. When we become more aware of our thoughts and emotions, we become less reactive to them, and more proactive in making conscious choices. This in turn leads to reduced stress levels, enhanced emotional regulation, increased focus and concentration, and improved relationships – with ourselves and with others.

11 Day retreat

Focusing on the interconnectedness of body and mind, you will practice different meditation techniques, pranayama’s (breathing techniques) and asana’s (postures). The schedule includes 9 Hatha, 6 Yin Yoga classes and 1 Acro Yoga, 8 meditation & pranayama classes, 9 Yoga Nidra sessions, 10 group meetings to discuss our experiences and challenges, and 10 self-practice silent meditation sessions.

Individual counceling is optional and included in the price. A release therapy massage or reiki (energy healing) session can be booked additionally.

By the end of the program, the participants will have learned the basic aspects of Yoga and meditation to establish a meditation practice on their own to continue while traveling or back home. The program is open to all levels – both beginners and experienced meditators are welcome.

Location

Lagoon Paradise, located near Marakolliya Beach in Tangalle, is a serene oasis surrounded by a tranquil lagoon and fields. Lagoon Kayaking

Kayaking in a lagoon in Tangalle is a serene and immersive experience that offers a glimpse into the region’s natural beauty.  The lagoon is surrounded by lush mangroves and coconut palms, and visitors can paddle through calm waters to encounter diverse wildlife, including birds and water monitors.

Mulkirigala Temple

Mulkirigala Rock Temple in Sri Lanka is a unique and fascinating excursion for those interested in ancient Buddhist culture and art. At the top, visitors can explore a collection of cave temples with wall paintings and sculptures, including a large reclining Buddha statue carved into the rock face.

Unakuruwa Beach

Unakuruwa offers calm and tranquil waters, largely free from strong currents, making it an ideal location for swimmers of all levels. The waves here are gentle and smaller compared to other nearby beaches, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for those looking to take a dip in the ocean.

Pottery making

First, you can watch a local pottery-maker in their element. You can see how effortlessly they hone their craft to make many pots, bowls and vases – with up to 100 being made per day! Then once you have watched a professional give the illusion that it’s easy to do, you can try it for yourself.
